Finding time to update your book collection is difficult. Our Literature Consultants are qualified teachers and librarians, have a wide knowledge of books for young readers and are available to assist you with book selection. 

What we offer:

Our literature consultants can attend faculty or staff meetings, either in person (metro-Melbourne only) or online.

We specialise in suggestions for:

We can also tailor presentations to suit your needs.​

You will be provided with book lists and resources for using the books in the classroom.

20% discount on any orders placed as a direct result of a meeting, this is 5% more than the usual discount.

Meet Our Consultants

Erin Wamala

Erin is the owner of The Kids' Bookshop and a practising Teacher Librarian. She spent almost 10 years working in publishing, followed by many years as a children's bookseller and librarian. Erin has been a judge for the CBCA Awards, is a regular contributor to Books + Publishing and was recently appointed to the board of the Melbourne Writer's Festival. Erin specialises in books for early years, primary and secondary readers.

Karys McEwen

Karys has been a school librarian for over 8 years and is currently the library manager at both Prahran and Richmond High Schools. Karys is president of the Children's Book Council of Australia Victorian Branch and has been a judge for the CBCA Awards. She regularly writes for Books + Publishing and has been published in several library journals. Her debut middle grade novel is due to be published in 2022. Karys specialises in books for upper primary and secondary readers.

Jackie Small

Having taught in primary and secondary classrooms, Jackie's respect and passion for children's literature is wide ranging, but she has a particular penchant for using picture books with Middle Years students. Jackie is the author of popular blog My Little Bookcase, where she provides parents and educators with engaging and meaningful ways to help children interact with stories. Jackie has been a bookseller with The Kids' Bookshop and most recently was the creator of activities and classroom ideas for Storybox Library. Jackie specialises in books for early years and primary readers.
